The Laboratory of Perceptual Psychology (Laboratoire Psychologie de la Perception) at the Université Paris Descartes, in Paris, has an opening at the Assistant/Associate Professor level, with tenure. The candidate will be expected to carry out an active research program in speech perception and language acquisition, or perception/action development, or psychophysics and psychology of visual perception, with a strong interest in brain imaging. The successful candidate will teach both undergraduate and master's level courses in experimental psychology and cognitive science. Some of the teaching can initially be in English.
The position is a permanent one: assistant/associate professors (maîtres de conférences) may be later promoted to Full Professor level, but are assured of lifetime employment.
The position includes a partial exoneration of teaching duties for the first five years (chaire de parténariat): the successful candidate will teach 64 hours per year, equivalent to about one course. The position also includes start-up funds of 20,000 €/year for the first five years.

We are located in the very center of Paris, with close links to the vibrant Paris community in psychophysics, cognitive psychology and neuroscience. Within the laboratory, our speech perception group includes Thierry Nazzi, Josiane Bertoncini, Ranka Bijeljac-Babic, Judit Gervain, Pia Rama and Scania de Schonen.
French citizenship is not a prerequisite. French candidates are required to have the CNU qualification in sections 16 (psychology) or 69 (neuroscience). Foreign candidates can obtain an equivalence.
